PAST WEBINARs

May 16 - Session 4

With a little help from our friends...

Maggie Bush, programs and outreach director at the League of Women Voters (LWV), presented on the wave of voter suppression laws across the country, their impact on the voting rights of low-income renters, and LWV’s efforts to push back against disenfranchisement. She also emphasized the importance of nonprofit organizations as trusted messengers that can reach low-propensity voters, including tips for effective voter registration and mobilization.

Joseph Battistelli, director of outreach and membership at the Coalition on Human Needs (CHN), discussed the Vote for Human Needs campaign, which empowers organizations that serve low-income communities to do voter engagement work. His presentation highlighted key national organizations that provide support for nonprofit voter engagement initiatives, as well as the importance of collaboration among local groups and activities they can undertake.
