Things You Need To Know: 

1. Registration Deadline:

  • The deadline for registering by mail to vote is (postmarked by) Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

  • The deadline to register in-person to vote is Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

  • The early voting period runs from Saturday, September 19, 2020, to Monday, November 2, 2020, but dates and hours may vary based on where you live.

2. Polling Times:

6 a.m. to 8 p.m

3. Is Early Voting Available:

Yes, 45 days ahead

4. Can I Vote by Mail:

Yes, You can register here.

*All voters can vote by mail without an excuse*

5. ID Needed for Voting:

Identification is not required unless you are a first-time voter who registered by mail. 

Forms of identification for first-time voters (one required)

  • Driver's license

  • Student or job ID

  • Military or other government ID

  • Store membership ID

  • United States passport

  • Bank statement

  • Car registration

  • Government check or document

  • Non-photo driver's license

  • Rent receipt

  • Sample ballot

  • Utility bill

  • Any other official document

Registrants who are submitting this form by mail and are registering to vote for the first time: If you do not supply any of the information required by section 7, or the information you provide cannot be verified, you will be asked to provide a COPY of a current and valid photo ID, or a document with your name and current address on it to avoid having to provide identification at the polling place. No ID requirement to vote by mail & No notary or witness requirement for return of mail ballot

6. Voting Without Address

New Jersey's voter registration forms are organized--and addressed--by county. The forms are identical but include the correct address for the county Board of Elections. The application requires a residential address.
