PAST WEBINARs

May 2 - Session 3

legal considerations for nonprofit organizations

Tim Mooney, senior counsel with the Bolder Advocacy program of the Alliance for Justice, provided comprehensive training on the legal landscape for 501c3 nonprofits that are launching voter and candidate engagement activities. Tim emphasized that nonprofits can and should engage in nonpartisan election work and that they play an increasingly important role in helping to get out the vote. Gabby Ross, housing advocacy organizer at NLIHC, discussed special considerations for organizations that receive federal funding. She also reviewed the election guides recently released by the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
